Most of the work today involves working with computers. More people spending more time working on computers eventually creates the need to share information. Connecting XP and Vista

When I bought my laptop, which came with Windows Vista, I wanted to connect my Windows XP PC with it. I used a router as well, which I used with Internet. However I was not able to make them communicate. So here is what I did.

First thing was to make both PC and laptop have the same WORKGROUP name. Without the same workgroup name, it is not possible to communicate. To change the workgroup name, right click on My Computer/Computer on your Windows XP/Windows Vista computers and select properties. You can see the WORKGROUP there. Give a suitable name.
